I founded Histoglass Ltd in 2006 after moving from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom. Drawing on my background in surveying and preserving historic buildings, I recognised the need for a more considered approach to improving the performance of traditional windows without compromising their character.

From the ground up, I developed Histoglass into one of the UK’s leading names in specialist glazing for historic and architecturally significant buildings. Over nearly two decades, I worked closely with architects, conservation officers, contractors, craftspeople and building owners on projects throughout the United Kingdom.

The company grew from a new and relatively unknown business into a recognised specialist within the conservation sector. An important part of my work was helping project teams find practical ways to retain historic windows and building fabric while meeting the changing requirements placed upon older buildings.

After founding, developing and leading Histoglass for nearly two decades, I sold my shares in the business.

I am no longer a shareholder, director, employee, consultant or representative of Histoglass Ltd, and I have no involvement in its present management, operations, products or services.

I remain immensely proud of having created the company, of the reputation it developed under my leadership and of the extraordinary buildings I had the opportunity to help preserve. Histoglass represents an important chapter in my professional life and provided the foundation for much of my continuing work in historic building conservation.

My current work is undertaken independently through my own businesses, Brouns & Co, Brouns Glass and my consultancy activities.
