There is so much to say about this wonderful house. The oldest part was built in 1761-67 for merchant Shem Burbank.
American architect Asher Benjamin designed and built the Phelps Wing doorway in 1794. A few years later he then moved to Boston where he became the society architect of Beacon Hill.
